Imphal, July 20 2021:
In response to viral news on the social media and reports published in state dailies about some Congress MLAs led by MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam joining the BJP, Ch Bijoy, who resigned as the party's state chief spokesperson recently, said that BJP Manipur Pradesh does not have any official knowledge on the report and if the report is true, they might have negotiated with the central leaders.
Addressing a press meet at the party's Nityaipat Chuthek office here on Tuesday, Bijoy said that he also heard report about some Congress MLAs missing but BJP state unit has not received any official intimation regarding their decision or willingness to join the party.
However, they might have negotiated their term of condition for joining BJP at the national level, he opined.
Regarding the Pegasus report published by The Wire a day before the monsoon session of the parliament began, Bijoy said that the report which suggests NDA government of using Pegasus spyware produced by the Israel-based software firm NSO against the opposition leaders is totally baseless.
The Print, which also published the alleged leaked report, is a news portal controlled by Congress party.
BJP senior leader Ravi Shankar had clarified on the report.
In fact, spying on others is a culture of Congress party but not for BJP, he asserted, while adding that his party strongly condemns such baseless allegations.
