'Healthy mind key to recovery from Covid'

Manipur College Covid Care Centre (CCC) COVID-19 Helpline Centre, Singjamei Kendra chairman Kakchingtabam Saratchandra Sharma has stated that in addition to timely treatment, providing mental care services in hospitals, CCCs or CHICs help in the recovery of Covid patients.
Speaking on the sidelines of a function organised to celebrate the discharge of a 91-year old woman from Chingamakha Kshetri Leikai who had tested positive for Covid and had been staying at the CCC till recovery, Saratchandra informed that all those admitted to the Centre are monitored closely by doctors and psychologists, apart from providing them with timely counselling and other services.
He continued that since the opening of the centre on May 5, 603 people have been admitted so far, of which 459 have been discharged, 73 have been referred to hospitals, while 71 are currently staying at the centre.
Furthermore, the centre is providing breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner free of cost along with medicines to make their stay more comfortable.
He then appreciated the speaker Y Khemchand and the doctors, nurses and volunteers of the centre for rendering services with a sense of sacrificial spirit till date.
