Vehicle lifter gang busted, 7 vehicles recovered

A combined team of Imphal West police and Thoubal commando arrested one habitual criminal and recovered 7 stolen vehicles.
The recovered vehicles include Bolero (White); Alto K-10 (Black); 2 Alto cars (Silver); Gypsy (White); Alto (Steel colour); Honda Activa (Red).
The arrested person identified as Yumkhaibam Mohsin @ Md Mohsen @ Ningthem (19) s/o Md Nurjaman of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai was produced before media persons this afternoon.
Briefing media persons, Imphal West SP Dr S Ibomcha stated that one Bolero and a Honda Activa were stolen on June 16 at around 5 pm from in front of BJP Head Office at Nityaipat Chuthek.
Saying that two different cases were registered at City Police to recover the stolen vehicles, the SP added that footages of various CCTVs installed in and around Imphal area were analysed and intelligence collected from various sources in tracing the vehicle lifters.
Two unknown persons coming in a black Alto K -10 car were confirmed to be involved in stealing the Bolero and Honda Activa on checking the footages, he said and added that an information was received by Imphal West police about the presence of some vehicle lifters at Lilong Eshing Kaipham @ Taret Labuk near Lilong Awang Leikai Idiga area yesterday evening.
Based on the information, a combined team of Imphal West police, commando and Thoubal commando led by Inspector P Achouba, OC Imphal West commando and Inspector M Sudhirkumar OC City police rushed to the area.
Continuing that the team managed to arrest Yumkhaibam Mohsin @ Md Mohsen.
However his associate Md Ashiqur @ Atomba (21) s/o Md Alauddin of Lilong Awang Leikai near Eshing Kaipham escaped the police, Dr Ibomcha maintained that two Alto cars including the one used in commissioning the crime was seized by the team.
On interrogation, Yumkhaibam Mohsin disclosed that the seized black Alto K-10 car belongs to Md Ashiqur @ Atomba and from his instance the other stolen vehicles were recovered along with some extra keys and tools from the residence of one Bogimayum Md Asgar Ali (38) s/o (L) Nasib Ali of Lilong Awang Leikai Shambukhong, who is claimed to be the mastermind of the crime, he added.
The SP further stated that Y Mohsin is a habitual offender as he was arrested earlier in connection with two different vehicle lifting cases and once in a murder case.
Hectic effort is on to arrest Bogimayum Md Asgar Ali and Md Md Ashiqur @ Atomba at the earliest, he added.
On the other hand, Yumkhaibam Mohsin @ Md Mohsen was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today evening along with prayer for seven day police custody remand.
The Court on perusal of the case record remanded him to seven days police custody.
