Police net vehicle lifters, recover six vehicles

Imphal, July 20 2021:
Imphal West district police arrested a vehicle lifter from Lilong Eshing Kaipham near Lilong Awang Leikai Idiga on Monday and recovered six stolen vehicles including five four-wheelers and a two-wheeler.
The arrested person has been identified as Yumkhaibam Moshin alias Ningthem (19) son of Nurjaman of Lilong Haoreibi Awang Leikai.
He is said to be a habitual offender, including involvement in cases of vehicle theft and murder registered at Lilong PS.
Speaking to media persons at his conference hall on Tuesday, Imphal West SP Dr S Ibomcha informed that two cases of theft took place in front of BJP Head office, Nityaipat Chuthek in which one Bolero Jeep (MN 01X-0434) and a Honda Activa (MN01 AD-8807) were stolen on July 16 around 5 pm.
Subsequently, two cases were registered at City Police Station.
He continued that the police collected CCTV footages from in and around Imphal area and analysed that the vehicle lifter used one black Alto K-10 (WB 20 AG-3284) in committing the crime.
A combined team of Imphal West police led by commando unit OC Inspector P Achouba Meetei, City PS OC inspector M Sudhirkumar and four teams of Commando Thoubal raided a location at Lilong Eshing Kaipham also known as Taret Labuk near Lilong Awang Leikai Idiga on Monday and arrested one of the accused vehicle lifters, named Yumkhaibam Moshin and seized two Alto cars including a silver colour car without registration number and the car used in carrying out the crimes that belong to the another vehicle lifter, Md Ashiqur alias Atomba (21) son of Md Alauddin of Lilong Awang Leikai near Eshing Kaipham.
From the disclosure of Moshin, a Bolero jeep (MN 01X 0434 and replaced by AS-01BE 5197), Gypsy white (MN03A 1110), Alto car silver (MN01S 3368) and Alto car steel (MN 04A 1029) were recovered from another accused Bogimayum Md Asgar Ali (38) son of late Nashib Ali of Lilong Awang Leikai Sambaukhong.
Asgar Ali, who is also a teacher under District Council, is said to be the master mind behind the two crimes.
Later, the police team recovered the Honda Activa and also seized extra keys of vehicles and other tools suspected to be used in vehicle thefts.
SP Ibomcha further said that police are on the hunt for arresting another two accomplices namely Md Asgar Ali and Md Ashiqur.
He continued that they will minutely investigate vehicle theft in the state and will arrest all the culprits to ensure appropriate punishment according to the law of the land.
