CM, others extend Eid greetings

Chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers O Lukhoi, Th Biswajit, Th Satyabrata, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Y Khemchand, Lilong MLA Y Antas Khan, BJP Manipur State Minority in-charge Md Anwar Hussain, political activist Laitonjam Jayananda of Khurai AC, MPP Youth Front and Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) have extended their warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Id-ul-Zuha/Eid al-Adha 2021 .
In his message, N Biren stated that the festival signifies the spirit of sacrifice rising above the narrow barriers of one's ego and self-interest for the good of all.
"In view of the prevailing situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, I appeal to our Muslim brethren to restrict the celebration by performing ritual and prayer within the confines of their homes and by observing the Covid Appropriate Behaviour," he said, while adding, "May the festival strengthen brotherhood and harmony and bring peace and prosperity to our state" .
In separate messages, all individuals and organisations urged the people of Manipur, the Muslim community in particular, to draw inspiration from the values of sacrifice and charity that are celebrated during this auspicious occasion and promote generosity, tolerance and compassion amongst all of us.
They also appealed to the public to adhere to the Covid-19 SOPs during the celebration.
Rajya Sabha MP and titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, MPCC vice president and Wangkhem MLA K Meghachandra, BJP Manipur Pradesh, Janata Dal (United) Manipur State Unit along with UCM, JCILPS, AMSU, PSO, Geographic Innovation Society, All Manipur Arts and Culture Students' Union and All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association also extended Eid-Al-Adha greetings.
Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation chairman S Achouba also extended greetings to the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-Al-Adha.
In his message, Achouba prayed for the festival to bring peace, tranquillity, unity, development and successful fight against Covid-19 .
