Governor of Manipur, VK Duggal has inaugurated the Global Youth Meets 2014 today at MFDC Auditorium, Palace Compound here.
The Global Youth Meets 2014 is being organised by the Club 25 International, Manipur with the theme Promoting Young Blood Donors and Looking Beyond Disaster.
Governor VK Duggal, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Head of Club 25 International Board (USA), Stephanie Beneditti graced the inaugural function as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The inaugural function was marked by presentation of Global Youth Award 2014 to Rakibul Hassan of Bangladesh, Dr Maibam Chourjit Singh of India and K Kanarjit of India.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor VK Duggal said that youth population of India and that of Manipur is about 50 percent of its total population, and the importance of youth could not be undermined as they could really change the world being the driving force that propels the reform movements.
The Governor also lauded the role of Club 25 International that encourages youth to donate blood while also adding that the Manipur chapter of the Club has been rendering yeoman's service with earning the credit of being the single largest blood donation unit of the State.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh stressed the role of youth towards the development of the State while urging the youths to initiate pro-active roles to take the society in the right direction.
Cultural presentation from delegates across the globe like Indonesia, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Punjab and Manipur, was showcased during the programme.
Delegates from 24 countries including Denmark, Afghanistan, China and Pakistan registered participation in the Global Youth Meets 2014 that will go on till Feb 25 .
