Missing traders killed along Myanmar border

Two Indian traders belonging , who went missing after entering Myanmar's Tamu district via Manipur's border town of Moreh ten days back, were found killed in the jungles on the Indian side, sending shockwaves along the border areas of the two countries.
Bodies of Sanvendar Singh (30) from UP and Daljeet Singh (33) from Maharashtra were found inside a jungle near Jangnomphai village about 45 Kms from Moreh police station in the morning, a source said and added that the bodies bore multiple injuries including burn wounds with their hands tied and legs tied.
Police have retrieved the corpses and sent them Moreh police station about 109 Kms from Imphal, he said adding that Myanmar police also helped in recovering the bodies from the spot.
From Moreh police station, the bodies were then brought here at JNIMS later in the day.
Following the tragic incident security has been beefed up along the porous border areas as preemptive measures.
Various Moreh-based civil bodies belonging to different communities, which imposed a bandh at the border town against the authorities' failure to trace out the two since Tuesday evening, continued with their stir, affecting badly the Indo-Myanmar trading activities.
An indefinite Moreh bandh and economic blockade have been imposed to denounce the killings and until an agreement is reached.
Soon after the bodies reached Moreh police station in the afternoon, the civil bodies thronged the border town and convened an emergency public meeting.
The two victims along with four others of the same community, had entered Myanmar thought gate No 2 at 8am of Feb 11 after obtaining papers from the Myanmar immigration counter .
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident till the time of filing this report.
