Imphal, February 20 2014 :
The Zeliangrong Union (AMN) has urged the Chief Minister to release bills according to value and quality of work executed in respect of Govt sponsored projects in Tamenglong district.
In a memorandum to the CM, the ZU said that the reason for Tamenglong being the most backward district of the State is presence of highly corrupt officers.
If the developmental work programmes sanctioned by the Central Govt reached the targeted villages then Tamenglong would have been developed like any other districts of Manipur.
About 70-80 percent of officers and staff posted in Tamenglong district remained aloof from their office without performing their duties although enjoying their monthly salaries, the ZU memo pointed out.
Seriously viewing the alleged loopholes in all Govt offices of Tamenglong district, the ZU, on behalf of the people of the district urged the Chief Minister to take notice of the alleged irregularities and corrupt practices of officers and release any bill relating to developmental projects after proper verification of the value and quality of work done.
