Kikhonbou inspects

Personally assessing development works being undertaken at certain areas of Tamei assembly constituency today, MLA Z Kikhonbou said construction of retaining walls at vulnerable river banks would be initiated at the earliest possible.
Inspecting conditions of the Tamei-Dikuram and katang-Magulong roads development of which were taken up under the PMGSY programme, Kikhonbou told accompanying newspersons that construction of the bridge over Barak river in between Katang to magulong was actually initiated in 2005 under the NEC funding of Rs 3 crore.
Stating that the bridge construction work could not be completed within the specified period due to intervention from certain quarters, the MLA said after his election as the Tamei AC representative consultations were held with the Zeliangrong people and the Works Minister subsequently resulting leading to the Government of Manipur providing additional amount of Rs 50 lakh to complete the bridge.
Reiterating upcoming task of strengthening the river banks in the assembly segment, Kikhonbou also conveyed that since his election 20 villages in Tousem sub-division have been provided electricity supply, seven junior high schools upgraded to high schools along with upgrading eight primary schools to upper primary level.
