JSCC appeals to call off bandh

Joint Students' Coordination Committee (JSCC) has appealed to All Manipur Municipality Union to call off its proposed state-wide bandh on February 22 in view of the ongoing HSLC and HS Examinations.
Talking to media persons at MSF office here today, Convenor of JSCC Th Premananda said that no organization should call bandh or general strike to cause disturbance to the students who are appearing the HSLC and HS Examinations being conducted by BSEM and CHSEM respectively.
The proposed bandh of Municipality Union should be called off in kind consideration of the students' academic career.
He further condemned the conduct of Examination OCs of Lamding High School and Khangabok High School for not allowing the JSSC team to inspect the examination centres without permission from Thoubal SP.
Convenor Premananda said that the JSSC has taken prior permission from the Secretaries of BSEM and CHSEM for inspecting the examination centres.
It was not necessary to take the SP's permission to inspect the examination centres as the examination is being conducted by the Board and not by Police Department, he asserted.
He also appealed to the authorities of BSEM and CHSEM to strictly monitor the examination centre at Tomchou Higher Secondary School located at Mayang Imphal as there is strong suspicion for use of unfair means by the students during the examination.
