Former MLAs, Advocates wave peace flag with Uikey

Separate teams of former MLAs, Advocates and peace committees called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan today and apprised her of the prevailing situation arising out of the recent violence and urged her to take all possible steps to restore normalcy at the earliest.
The team of former MLAs consisted of Dr Ng Bijoy Singh, O Joy Singh, RK Anand Singh and E Chand Singh, a statement from the Governor's Secretariat informed.
Aside from this, the advocates team comprised former Acting Chairman of Manipur Human Rights Commission and chairperson of Citizens for Justice, Manipur, Khaidem Mani Singh; Nautuneshwari, former Judge and six other Advocates.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Sajjad Bhuiyamayum, convenor of Committee on Peaceful Co-Existence, Manipur along with nine others also called on the Governor.
Stating that the peace and harmony that has been disturbed needs to be restored, the teams urged the Governor to put in all efforts to bring back normalcy so that peace and tranquility will prevail in Manipur.
The teams also appreciated the Governor's efforts to contain violence and expressed that her efforts towards providing immediate relief and rehabilitation to the violence hit displaced people in the State are welcomed by one and all.
Governor Anusuiya Uikey maintained that the establishment of peace and harmony will be possible only with the efforts of all stakeholders in the State.
The Centre has appointed a Security Advisor to the Government and Union Home Minister is also monitoring the situation and all necessary instructions are being given.
"Army, paramilitary forces and'police are working round the clock.
Efforts are on to ensure the supply of essential commodities.
The administration is also keeping an eye on price control," she added.
Stating that with the combined efforts of all stakeholders, normalcy will be restored very soon, she appealed to everyone to put their efforts in estab--lishing peace and harmony in Manipur.
