Imphal, May 15 2023:
Six student bodies have urged the State Government to take appropriate action under the law against 10 Kuki-Chin MLAs who have openly supported the demand for separate administration of militants.
The six student bodies include MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and AIMS.
Speaking to media persons at the office of MSf at Tiddim Road, KSA president Sukham Bidyananda said the 10 MLAs' demand for separate administration is condemnable and action should be taken against them by the Government.
He also said that to root out illegal immigrants, NRC must be implemented urgently and effectively.
Commenting on the present situation, Bidyananda said the Central armed police force and the army, deployed are not able to control the SoO Kuki militants and contain violence.
Yesterday, miscreants burnt down around 15 houses at Torbung Sabal Mamang and Govindpur Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
This has proved thatthe armed forces deployed in the area have failed to protect houses and properties of the people he said.
Bidyananda added that as the armed forces are not able to protect lives, houses and properties, people should, underthe law, take up all necessary measures to protect themselves and their properties.
He also expressed disappointment with the Government failing to end the Imphal-Dimapur blockade and provide free and safe passage to the goods carrying trucks.
