MHRC urged to protect folks in CCpur

A complaint has been filed seeking the intervention of the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) to protect Meetei people living in Churachandpur and to recover the guns and ammunition looted from a gun house in the district.
The complaint was filed by N Ibomcha Singh, a resident of Khumujamba Leikai in Churachandpur, who runs a gun shop 'Churachandpur Gun House-Arms and Ammunition Dealer & Repairing' opposite the office of Superintendent of Police (SP), Churachandpur.
In his complaint to MHRC, N Ibomcha urged the Commission to direct the Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur to protect the houses and properties belonging to the Meitei families in Churachandpur and to arrest the people who looted guns and ammunition from the Churachandpur Gun House.
Seeking further the immediate intervention of MHRC to recover the guns and ammunition from the looters, the complainant asked MHRC to direct the DGP to initiate departmental enquiry against the SP of Churachandpur, Officer in Charge of Churachandpur police station and other ranks of Manipur police who were stationed at Churachandpur during the time when a mob carried out unlawful activities in the district.
N Ibomcha also appealed to the Commission to direct the Chief Secretary of Government of Manipur to provide adequate, compensation to him.
The complainant went on to appeal to MHRC to direct the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and DGP, Manipur to deploy adequate police personnel and Indian Reserve Battalion at Churachandpur Town.
