Mass sit-ins begin under COCOMI

Under the aegis of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), mass sit-in protests were held at different locations on Monday.
Speaking in this regard, COCOMI executive member W Second contended that at-titude of central government and agenda of the Kuki MLAs all intended to create chaos in the state and ultimately pave the way for demanding autonomy and homeland of the Kukis.
While pointing out that people living in periphery areas/foothills are exposed to threat as para -military forces seemed to be priori-tising importance to having healthy relationship with Kuki militants under SoO, he continued also decried the sinister scheme of the Kuki MLAs to distort 2000 years old history of Manipur.

The mass sit- in protests are being held to denounce the ploy and conspiracy to dis-integrate the state, he added.
Meanwhile, urging the state government to bring about an amicable solution to the ethnic violence in the state at the earliest possible, meira paibi associations of Langmeidong organised sit-in demonstration at Langmeidong Keithel on Monday.
The protestors held plac-ards inscribed with slogans "Bring amicable solution of the communal violence at the earliest", "Confine So0 militants at designated camps", "Punish Kuki mil-itants defying So0 ground rules", "Prohibit entry of illegal migrants", "Control Kuki militants" and "We want peace not war".
Meanwhile, following the appeal of COCOMI to orga-nise mass democratic sit-in in the wake of the current situation of the state, sit-in protest was also organised at Yairipok Keithel.
Meanwhile supporting the call of COCOMI to launch mass democratic pro-tests, Langthabal Sporting Club along with mothers of LangthabalChingthak and ChingkhaKabuiand Young Voluntary Organi-sation staged sit-in protest at LangthabalMantrikhong Thong Amanbi and Wangkhei respectively.
In separate releases, they stated that the protestors shouted slogans including 'Save Manipur Integrity', 'Rein-in Kuki militants under So0', 'Bring peace and re-store normalcy', 'GOI should stop divide and rule policy', 'Implement NRC immediate-ly' and 'No Golden Triangle in Manipur'among others.
