Imphal, May 15 2023:
The Naga Christian Forum, Manipur has appealed to resolve all disagreements through peaceful democratic means and practice mutual empathy and compassion.
The Forum President Th Sokho George and Secretary K Daimai in a joint press release expressed deep concern on the wide range of destruction, killing and displacement of thousands of people which erupted from May 3 onwards and appealed to all concerned to refrain from such acts considering the loss and suffering caused to many innocent civilians.
Disheartened by the rampant attack and destruction of religious structures of the Meiteis/ Meeteis and Churches of Kukis, the Forum appealed to all groups, ethnic, religious, caste or creed to respect the freedom of religion of everyone as enunciated in international covenants and also the Constitution of India.
It maintained 'Holy structures of all religions are a means through which we human beings relate to God who created the human race without exception.
Hence, attack on the religious structures of any religion amounts to attack on God which is not advisable at all' .
Lastly, the Naga Christian Forum, Manipur prayed 'May God guide Manipur back to the land of peace and prosperity in the shortest possible time.
May He wipe out all distrust and suspicion from the hearts and minds of all and instill the spirit of love and concern for one another in every heart' .
