Strela Luwang files complaint over fake account

Imphal, May 15 2023: Femina Miss India 2023 2nd Runner-up Thounaojam Strela Luwang on Monday filed a complaint at Cyber Crime Police Station with regard to post on several Facebook pag-es about a fake Twitter account opened in her name and the same used to post communal posts.

Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club in this regard on Monday, Strela Luwang said that owing to the requirement for contes-tants of Femina Miss India to open a Twitter account for the Miss Multimedia subti-tle, she had opened an official Twitter account in February this year under the handle of Strela Luwang @ Luwang-Strela.

However, as she barely uses Twitter, the account is inactive.

Unfortunately, some un-scrupulous persons opened a fake account on Twitter under the id- strelaluwang and been making communal posts in connection with the ongoing communal violence in the state and as such, the fake account was reported and banned.

Screenshots of this account was uploaded on some social media pages with demands to strip her of the Miss India 2nd Runner-Up crown for being communal, she conveyed.

Strela stated that she was initially unaware of the matter due to the total internet shut-down in the state.

However, acquaintances from outside Manipur informed her of the matter.

She continued that it was unfortunate to see some-one impersonate her to ruin her reputation.

There have also been reports of some people posting on the Miss India of-ficial page to strip her of the recognition she brought to the state.

But she is currently in Imphal and has not made any communal posts on her official Twitter page, while also considering the internet shutdown.

In addition, she has no idea of the content of the communal posts made by the fake account and as such, this could be regarded as a personal attack on her, she said.

Strela continued that after becoming aware of the matter, she filed a written complaint to Cyber Crime Police Sta-tion, Imphal and hoped for the person(s) responsible to be punished according to the law of the land.
