Imphal, May 15 2023:
Even after 10 days since they went missing, po-lice have not been able to trace Atom Samarendra, an official of IBSD Imphal, and Yum-khaibam Kiran of Khumbong bazar in Imphal West district.
Raising concerns over the situation, locals of Khumbong under the aegis of the JAC formed in connection with the missing case tried to take out a protest march up to the residence of Konthoujam MLA and health minister Dr S Ran-jan to submit a memorandum on Monday.
However, large number of Imphal West dis-trict police stopped the rally after which the protestors organised a sit-in protest at Khumbong Keithel to register their grievances.
Interacting with the me-dia, JAC convenor Irengbam Gandhajit said that the two went missing after they went out in a Renault Kwid car (MNO6LC 0036) on May 6 around 11 am.
However, the government failed to trace the missing duo till date, which is why they are organising the protest.
He said that Atom Samar-endra is an official of IBSD Imphal and has two chil-dren while Kiran has three children.
He appealed to the government to trace the two and hand them over to their family members while stat-ing that inability to trace the two is a sign of security fail-ure of the government.
The convenor also demanded the government to take up appro-priate measures to prevent repetition of such violence in the state and warned of launching intense agitation if the government fails to locate whereabouts of the missing persons within 24 hours.
