Imphal, February 07 2014 :
Call it an attack or mischievous taunting, some unidentified persons today opened several rounds of fire in the air in front of MLA Shyamkumar's vehcile as the MLA went to attend a marriage ceremony this evening.
Speaking to media persons at his quarters tonight, MLA Shyamkumar said that he was heading for a marriage ceremony within his Assembly segment when a black car (Chervolet Beat) grazed past his vehicle near Koirengei.
The MLA sped up and asked who the pranksters were.
But the unidentified persons did not give any reply.
Instead they fired several rounds of shots in the air in front of the MLA's vehicle.
Even as Shyamkumar was escorted by security escorts, he retrained the security personnel from opening fire.
The MLA and his team pursued the unidentified persons, they drove past the Leimakhong army check post without any hindrance or stoppage.
But when the MLA approached the army's check post, they were halted by the army personnel on duty there.
On being enquired about the vehicle which went past the check post just ahead, the army personnel said it was 'local vehicle' and they would search for it tomorrow.
Even as Deputy Chief Minister was informed about the incident immediately, the Deputy Chief Minister who is also in charge of Home Department instead of taking prompt actions demanded a written representation, Shyamkumar lamented.
