Public outrage over killing of A Shepou spills over

A public outcry against the highhandedness of the NSCN-IM cadres in killing a youth, A Shepou on Feb 5 culminated with an emergency meeting today at SDWA Hall here.
Meanwhile, the NSCN (IM), Shepoumaramth region has dismissed one of its cadres involved in the killing of A Shepou today.
Frontal organisations like UNC, NPO, ANSAM, SDWA, SDSA, Poumai Naotumai Me, village authorities of Makhreliu and Tungjoy, family members of the deceased and the general public attended the public meeting.
Deputy Kilonser Home Affairs of the Shepoumaramth region apologised to the public for the killing during the meeting while assuring justice in the case.
The deceased family and the Chairman of the Kathikho Village, Makhreliu village, Rikhumai Taphou and Tungjoy village authorities presented a 12-point Charter of Demands to the organisation.
The demands included the burial of A Shepou mortal remains at a public place in the DHQs, termination of the offender, to make transparent stand of the NSCN-IM towards the Naga civilians, to send away Nirala (shopkeeper) from the DHQs, to give a clear investigation report on how the President PTM and Khabung Karong village Chairman received the body, to clarify why another accomplice of the victim was spared, etc.
The Naga Peoples' Organisation took custody of A Shepou's body from Khabung Karong last night.
The shops in DHQs were closed down to show their solidarity against the heinous and brutal killing of A Shepou.
A candle light vigil was organised at the Senapati headquarters traffic point.
Various organisations including the Tungjoy Union, Kathikho (Karong) and Rikhumai Taphou villages, SDWA, SDSA, PNTM and PNNM have condemned the killing of Shepou.
The NSCN (IM), Shepoumaramth region has dismissed one of its cadres involved in the killing of A Shepou today.
Saying that AT Chinaoso, Razou Peyu of SPMTH Region was involved in the killing of A Shepou of Tungjoy Village on Feb 4, an order issued by the GPRN Secretariat signed by K Besui, Joint Secretary said that the conduct of the said perpetrator had brought dishonour to the GPRN and thereby has has been dismissed from service with immediate effect.
The United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women Union (NWU) and Naga People's Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) have strongly condemned the killing of the man.
The Naga bodies asked all the 'Naga national workers' (Naga underground groups) to shun such activity.
The four frontal Naga organisations further asked the Naga underground groups to go by the 'national principle'.
"They should not indulge in activities which are against the wish of the Naga people or against the Naga national interest," added the UNC, ANSAM, NWU and NPMHR.These organisations then appealed the civil bodies of the Senapati district and the village leaders of the deceased to sort out misunderstanding amicably.
They then shared the grief of the deceased family members.
