UNC appeals against CM, Dy CM

The United Naga Council (UNC) has appealed to all the "Nagas and tribal people" not to extend any form of support and cooperation to "anti -Naga and anti-tribal" Chief Minister and his Deputy, "Judas of tribal and Nagas" in the Orange Festival, 2015 being organized and sponsored by the Government of Manipur.
The UNC also appealed to the "Naga and tribal" general public to stand united against all forms of oppressive policy of the State Government "till the long cherished political aspiration is achieved" .
According to the UNC, the Government of India has sanctioned crores of rupees for horticulture development in Manipur particularly for Tamenglong district through Horticulture Mission of India under the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
"But the fund has been misappropriated without imple- mentation," the UNC alleged.
"Why crores of rupees meant for horticulture and orange plantation sanctioned by the Government of India was diverted for removal of Phumdi (weeds) at Loktak Lake, Bishnupur district, Imphal valley?," it questioned and added, "This Government has not been addressing the rights and interest of the orange growers and thereby, production is decreasing year by year.
There is a strong apprehension that a day will come when people of Tamenglong district will celebrate Orange Festival sans orange fruit" .
The UNC statement then alleged that O Ibobi Singh Government is again organizing Orange Festival at Tamenglong on December 9, 2015 by "spending crores of rupees" in the name of orange.
The government has been making several hollow/empty promises in favour of the poor and needy orange growers of the district but nothing has been shown or done practically till date.
It is most surprising to note that no horticulture and agriculture offices and staff are found in the district, it added.
The statement then said that in continuation of the decision of the Naga people to strengthen the Naga position base on the unique history of the Nagas and its position, "UNC hereby informed and directed to all the Nagas living in the present State of Manipur that "the communal Government of Manipur by adopting its anti Naga and tribal policies and by sponsoring State terrorism has suppressed, oppressed and exploited the Nagas and tribal people by terrorizing them till date for which the Naga people had declared severance of all political ties with the Government of Manipur as our land, history and peoples' rights are not secured under the present oppressive political system" .
"The Naga people should not succumb to the appeasement policy of the State Government in enticing the people in the guise of organizing different forms of festivals in Naga and tribal territory just to fulfil and strengthen their selfish political objectives," it added.
The UNC statement then recalled that two promising students of Mao Naga and two Tangkhul Naga youths were shot death by the 'communal State forces' on May 6, 2010 at Mao Gate and on August 30, 2014 at Ukhrul respectively and injuring tens of hundreds are still fresh in the minds of the "Nagas and tribals" .
The statement also recalled that, as a consequent upon passing of "anti tribal Bills and resolutions" in the Manipur Legislative Assembly, O Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur and Deputy CM Gaikhangam's forces had killed 9 innocent tribal civilians on August 31 and September 1, 2015 at Churachandpur while defending the inalienable rights of the tribal.
The bodies are still lying at the morgue of Civil Hospital, Churachandpur for 89 days and at this tragic situation, they are luxuriously enjoying the Sangai Festival with National and International dignitaries without any concern and human feelings,
it added.
