Asian theatre fest concludes

The eight-day long Asian theatre festival organized as a part of the Manipur Sangai Festival from November 22 has concluded today at Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound, Imphal.
The concluding function was graced by Dr RK Nimai, Consultant, Government of Manipur, and Shyamlal Poonia, Tourism Director, Government of Manipur as chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking at the function, Dr RK Nimai opined the lack of audience in the Asian theatre festival due to the short notice in organizing the theatre festival and people mainly thronging BOAT for witnessing cultural shows.
He is optimistic that in the 2016 Sangai Festival, theatre will be given prime importance and people will turned out in large numbers to witness theatre.
Altogether 7 plays were shown during the festival namely Mangshal by NT Theatre Manipur (India), Troia by Kaden Theatre Company (Japan), Pebet by Kalakshetra Manipur (India), Bipannata by Nandikar Kolkata (India), Bacchae by Chorus Repertory Theatre (India), Charandas Chor by Ba, Guwahati, Assam (India), and Se Raate Purnima by Aarshinagar (Bangladesh) .
