Myanmar intruders sent to jail

Imphal, January 28 2023:
Of the 80 Myanmar Nationals who were arrested and detained yesterday by a combined team of Tengnoupal Police commandos and Special Commandos, Khabeisoi, 71 were brought to Imphal and lodged in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa while the remaining nine who happened to be juveniles have been put in an observation home.
The apprehended Myanmar Nationals who crossed into Indian territory unlawfully were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Moreh late last night by a team of Moreh police station under the Foreigners Act along with a prayer for judicial custody remand, sources informed.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the Myanmar Nationals in judicial custody and observation home.
Subsequently, the apprehended Myanmar Nationals, all males, were taken toward Imphal from Moreh by a team of Tengnoupal district police led by the SP, Tengnoupal today at around 1 am.
The police team reached Imphal early this morning and the adult Myanmar Nationals were lodged in foreigner detention centre located inside the Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa while the nine juveniles were put in an observation home located at Samaram near Khongjom after completion of legal formalities.
The apprehended Myanmar Nationals were suspected to have crossed into Indian territory (Moreh) in between border pillar numbers 75 and 76 and staying in Indian territory illegally at H Lhangcham and New Salbung villages under Moreh police station.
Notably, three Myanmar Nationals who were lodged in a temporary jail at Churachandpur escaped from the jail on January 22 .
