Imphal, January 28 2023:
Film Forum Manipur (FFM) chairman Surjakanta Sharma has announced restriction on promotion of any film songs or music videos (MVs) on local cable networks, YouTube channels and other platforms without prior permission from the Forum.
Addressing a press meet held at FFM's office, Lamphel Supermarket, here, on Saturday, Surjakanta informed that a set of rules and guidelines is in place for shooting films and music videos under the Forum, which must be adhered to by all concerned.
However, there seems to be an increase in violation of such rules, which is highly unfortunate.
Stating that it has been cus-tomaiy for the Forum to preview the poster design, trailer and the film itself beforehand; the chairman noted that many music video albums are not observing the rules including ignoring the culture and tradition of the state and instead, imitating the trends of outsiders.
This is simply an act of blackening the beautiful culture and tradition of the state, he contended.
Mentioning some of the rules set by the Forum, Surjakanta said that it is mandatoiy to register the title and entiy of the films before holding the blessing ceremony.
The films need to be previewed by the Forum before it can be advertised to the public.
No film posters are permitted to be put up in public places without the permission of the Forum, and no music video albums can be shown to the public without being previewed by FFM.
Informing that penalties as per the rules and guidelines will be imposed on the violators from February onwards; he said that uploading of such music video albums on YouTube channels will also be looked into.
The chairman then urged all concerned to follow the rules, while cautioning that any director, actor or others found violating the same will no longer be associated with the Forum.
