Imphal, January 28 2023:
While pointing out the failure to provide irrigation facility to the agricultural land in Morang A/C, which falls under Loktak Lift Irrigation (LLI) and other minor irrigation projects, Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has demanded to the government to check the works of minor irrigation in Moirang constituency immediately.
In a release, MSC/CPI secretary M Joykumar Luwang informed that CPI Moirang Municipal unit 1 and 2 convened its 30th branch conference at Kumam Leikai on Friday and discussed not only about the party organisation but also for the development of Moirang constituency.
Pointing out that LLI and other minor irrigation projects have failed to provide irrigation water to the agricultural lands in Moirang A/C, he recalled the assurances of providing various benefits by Loktak project.
All these assurances have become illusion as various farmlands have been destroyed by the project and crores of rupees spent on the project.
Yet it has failed to provide benefits to the people.
In view of the failure of LLI, the meeting resolved to exert pressure for making it functional, he added.
The meeting was also attended by state executive members K Bimol and M Somorjit, Loken-dro, Mohanchandra and Kh Gopal among others.
