Imphal, January 28 2023:
Members of the organisation inspected Azad Higher Secondary School on Friday and found only a few teachers.
Upon enquiring and meeting with the principal and students' union, it came to light that students of the school generally return home as most of the teachers are irregular.
A copy of the memorandum submitted by the students' union to the education minister on January 16 demanding disciplinary action against eight lecturers for Zoology, Chemistry, Political Science, Physics and Mathematics and a non-teaching staff (MTS) was also handed over to the organisation, he informed, while adding that the same teaching and non-teaching staff were all found absent on the day of inspection.
However, there was application for leave of absence by one of the lecturers as she is undergoing treatment after an operation.
As such; the organisation considered that there must be some misunderstanding between the students' union and the teacher.
If the government wants good governance, then the rest of the teachers and the non -teaching staff should be suspended and replaced with new ones for the development of the school, he maintained.
Referring to the recent allegations levelled by some students' bodies against the education min ister of lacking commitment in the development of government educational institutions, Rajip opined that such charges is imminent in the future if the minister fails to take up punitive actions against the negligent teachers and non-teaching staff.
He also urged authority of the education department to frequently check and inspect the school so that it could become a good one and added that the organisation will continue to inspect schools and take responsibility for producing good students.
