Imphal, January 28 2023:
Ihe National Executive Body meeting of All India Federation of University and College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO) has given a call for black badge protest by the university and college teachers across the country on February 14 .
In a release, AIFUCTO general secretary Prof Dr Arun Kumar also appealed all fraternal organisations and democratic minded citizens of the country to extend their solidarity to the protest.
Wearing of black badge is a.sym-bolic expression of deep-rooted resentment against the hasty, arbitrary and unilateral implications of many measures detrimental to the inclusive nature of higher education of the country.
In the name of implementation of a retrograde, undemocratic and exclusionary NEP 2020, UGC at the behest of Ministry of Education had made public manu negative regulations such as blending learning system, four years under-graduate program, multiple entry and exit, common universities entrance test and recently brought out the draft regulations on entry of foreign universities.
The most unfortunate part is Ministry of Education and UGC are undemocratic enough to hear the Views of the entire stake holder including AIFUCTO.
The black badge is also intended to demand before the Government of India to restore old pension scheme, filling up of vacancies s regularisation of services of adhoc, part time and temporary teachers.
AIFUCTO still hope that the Ministry of Education including UGC will respond to the democratic voice of the teaching fraternity to Save Education, Save Campus and Save Education.
AlFUCTO's 32nd Academic conference scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra University, Haryana on March 17 to 19 will review the situation and will take steps to safeguard the interest of education and our nation, added the release.
