Proposed bandh called off

The proposed 60-hour total bandh called by Longmai area CSOs along National Highway-37 has been called off following an emergency meeting with the State Government.
The total bandh was slated to commence from February 22 against the Government's failure to send adequate doctors and staff including lab technicians at Noney Primary Health Centre, other PHCs and CHCs of Noney district.
The emergency meeting was held at Noney DC Office Chamber between the Director of Health and the Demand Committee/JAC in the presence of Dinganglung Gangmei, Chairman, Hill Areas Committee and points of agreement mentioned in the white paper was signed.
A joint statement issued by Adai Dangmei, Chairman, Village Council, Longmai Area and Director, Health Services, Manipur shared that the State Government has made several commitments to the CSOs of Noney district in this regard.
As per the statement, the Director of Health Services has assured that lab technicians will be posted at PHC Noney within February and one ambulance driver will be posted within March.
By the end of March, an additional ambulance will be provided, it said.
It added that two doctors and nurses who were recently transferred and posted at PHC Noney and CHC Nungba will be made to join duty within one week.
Further, the Director of Health Services has assured that in addition to the existing doctors and nurses, more will be posted in all CHCs and PHCs of Noney district once the current recruitment process of contractual basis doctors and nurses is completed.
Dr Sashee Kumar, Director, Health Services; Dr Tomcha Khuman, Additional Director, Public Health and Dr N Himanta Singh, Additional Director, Manpower Development also inspected PHC Noney after the emergency meeting and had interaction with the doctors and medical staff and looked after the basic shortage of the PHC.
Today's meeting was attended by various CSO leaders of Longmai Area, Noney district; Dr Z Kamei, CMO Noney; Khapudang, ADM Noney; Nimai Singh, SP, Noney and Pourallung, SDO, Noney.
