Imphal, February 22 2023:
In continuation of its ongoing inspection of the sacred sites and border pillars of the state, Peace Committee Kangleipak on Monday carried out an inspection of Khongsang railway station, the present state of influx of outsiders into Manipur and also the preventive steps, if any, taken up by the state government.
Speaking in this regard, Committee president Kh Rajen informed that the Khongsang railway station has no water supply in the men/women toilets.
The toilets have become too smelly due to the lack of civic sense amongst the passengers and dumping of empty plastic bottles.
The master room and staff quarters also do not have any water connections.
On the other hand, there is no office room for the police personnel checking the ILP documents and they are forced to do their duty in an empty veranda under the hot sun.
As per the police officer on duty, the situation is much worse during the rainy season.
Additionally, there is no waiting room for passengers.
Thus, Rajen urged the government and the authority concerned to install the necessary facilities at the railway station at the earliest.
