231 teachers' post in Ukhrul vacant : Letpao

Replying that 231 posts of primary school teachers under the Autonomous District Council, Ukhrul are lying vacant, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister Letpao Haokip today informed the Assembly that recruitment process is underway to recruit 61 primary teachers under Ukhrul ADC.
Letpao Haoki furnished this information while replying to questions raised by Ukhrul Assembly Constituency MLA Ram Muivah on the floor of the Assembly on whether it is true that there is acute shortage of primary school teachers under ADC, Ukhrul.
Ram Muivah also raised a question on the number of sanctioned posts and existing posts for teachers under Ukhrul ADC.

Replying to the questions raised by the Ukhrul AC MLA, Letpao Haokip informed the House that the number of sanctioned posts is 984 out of which 717 are occupied.
The number of vacant posts is 231, added the Minister.
On the steps taken up to fill up the shortage of teachers, the Minister said that recruitment process for 61 primary teachers under Ukhrul ADC is under process.
Ram Muivah also raised a question on the schemes/projects sanctioned for Ukhrul in the current financial year and Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo replied that 13 schemes/projects have been sanctioned for Ukhrul, including Mission Vatsalya (Child Protection Services and Child Welfare Services), Chief Ministergi Angangi Tengbang (CM Bal Seva), One Stop Centre, Care Giver Allowance, Chief Minister's Old Age Pension Scheme, Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme etc.
The amount released/sanctioned for each project/scheme was also detailed by the Social Welfare Minister.
