Anusuiya Uikey assumes office as Governor

Anusuiya Uikey was sworn in as the 16th Governor of Manipur with High Court of Manipur Acting Chief Justice MV Muralida ran administering the oath of office and secrecy to her during a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, here, on Wednesday morning.
Chief minister N Biren and his council of ministers, speaker Th Satyabrata Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, MLAs, chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, DGP P Doungel, political party leaders and senior officers of civil and paramilitary forces attended the oath taking ceremony.
After taking the oath, the Governor received the Rash triya Salute and inspected Guard of Honour accorded by personnel of Manipur Rifles and India Reserve Battalion commanded by 9th IRB Mahila Battalion commandant Khoisnam Sarma Devi.
She also interacted with the CM, ministers and MLAs after the ceremony.
Later, talking to media persons, Governor Anusuiya Uikey thanked President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving her an opportunity to serve the beautiful state of Manipur.
The Governor said she has been entrusted to serve the state and expressed confidence that all issues of con cern will be solved amicably and developmental activities will be taken up in consultation with the chief minister and his council of ministers.
Recalling her past three and half years' service as Governor of Chhattisgarh, Anusuiya Uikey mentioned that she received a lot of cooperation and support from the people there and many developmental activities were taken up.
She also appealed to all the stakeholders especially the people of Manipur to extend cooperation and support for bringing up the state to higher level of development and prosperity.
In the evening, the new Governor visited Indian National Army (INA) Headquarters and Museum at Moirang in Bishnupur district and paid floral tribute to the statue freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The Governor also inspected the photographs, arms, ammunition and other equipment of INA which are being displayed at the museum.
Later, Governor Anusuiya Uikey went to Sendra Tourist Resort where she was greeted by Loktak Development Authority (LDA) chairman M Asnikumar.
On her way back to Raj Bhavan, the Governor went to Govindajee temple in Palace Compound and offered Arti.
It may be mentioned that Anusuiya Uikey is the second woman Governor of the state.
Before taking up the responsibility of Governor of Chhattisgarh, she was a minister in her birthplace Madhya Pradesh's government and also a Rajya Sabha MP.
