Joint Non-Government Voluntary Organization (JNGVO) president, Ksh Chhatradhari, has appealed to the State Government to keep the land records related to Kakching district in the District HQ within 5 days and warned of agitation in case of failure to comply with the demand of the organisation.
Addressing a press conference today at Kakching, Ksh Chhatradhari stated that land records of some areas under Kakching district namely 69-Mayeng Lamjao, 71-Langmeidong, 72-Lamjao, 70-Nungu Sanamahi, 52-Pallel, 57-Kakching Khullen, 58-Kakching Khullel, 59-Kakching Khullen and 49-Kangoi have been taken to the Directorate of Settlement & Land Record in Lamphelpat, Imphal.
Denouncing the move of the Government to shift all land records to Imphal, he shared that the initiative of the Government has caused a lot of hardship to the people of Kakching district who have been forced to visit Directorate of Settlement & Land Record office in Lamphelpat again and again, wasting a lot of money and time.
He mentioned that JNGVO had also submitted written complaints to keep the land records in Kakching District HQ to the Government on August 16, 2022 and September 27, 2022 .
He continued that a sit-in was also staged on September 18, 2022 at Ibudhou Naohallai Laibung in Kakching Keithel protesting the Government's move.
"Despite a number of appeals, the Government has remained silent and ignore the grievances of the public for so long", said Chhatradhari while claiming that a wardrobe containing land records of 5 villages namely 62-Kakching Wairi, 63-Kakching Wairi, 68-Hiyanglam, 61-Loushipat and 67-Kharungpat was also reportedly taken from Kakching District HQ on February 20 .
Chhatradhari further appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and authorities concerned to address the grievances of the public within 5 days, failing which JNGVO would be compelled to launch a series of democratic forms of agitation.
