MNPF man involved in Sehken ambush arrested

Security forces have arrested one active cadre of Manipur Naga Peoples' Front (MNPF) from Yaingangpokpi Bazar, Imphal East today, said sources.
The operation was conducted following reliable inputs of presence of an active cadre of the outfit.
The operation was conducted by a combined team of NIA, Imphal East Commando Unit and personnel of 4 Assam Rifles at around 10 am today.
The operation was led by Inspector Kh Henry, OC, CDO Imphal East.
The arrested cadre of the MNPF has been identified as Machukring Zamshim Shimray alias Ningkhan (20) of New-Cannan Village, Ukhrul.
He joined the outfit in the year 2016 through one Robert of MNPF and got his basic military training for 3 months under army no 159 at Thumol, Myanmar.
He is presently holding the rank of s/s Corporal and was working under the command of one s/s - Chairman Francis of MNPF and involved in several ambushes on Central security forces mainly Assam Rifles, said the sources.
He was involved in Khongtal, Chandel ambush of July 29, 2020 wherein three security forces were killed and six others were injured.
He was also involved in the ambush on a convoy of 46 Assam Rifles on November 13, 2021 at S Sehken village, Singngat sub-division, Churachandpur district.
Several Assam Rifles personnel including a Commanding Officer and some civilians were killed in the ambush.
He has been handed over to the NIA Imphal for taking up further necessary legal procedure, said the sources.
