Jiribam, November 05 2022:
Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) has strongly condemned the attempt being made to include a Kuki inhabited village falling under Leishabithol village of Jiribam district into Tamenglong district.
Addressing media persons in this regard at JDO office, Babupara on Saturday, JDO president N Sadananda said that clandestine bid to include small villages lying under Jiribam district to neighbouring Tamenglong and Pherzawl districts is continuing unabated.
Taking advantage of un-demarcated boundary for Jiribam district, many villagers and chiefs are trying to enlist small villages lying under Jiribam district into the neighbouring districts, Tamenglong and Pherzawl.
In a fresh such attempt, one Jangminthang Singson claiming to be chief of a Kuki inhabited village lying under the jurisdiction of Leishabithol village of Jiribam district has been processing to include the village under Tamenglong district administration.
Jangminthang Singson colluded with the chief of a village located in the remote Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong and even manipulated name of the said Tousem village so that his village could fall under Tamenglong district administration, Sadananda said.
Strongly condemning the act of some villagers and village chiefs to include Jiribam villages into neighbouring districts, Sadananda said that JDO and Jiribam public are against such attempts.
He also said that such acts of some selfish villagers and village chiefs may create enmity between different communities who are living together with harmony.
He then urged village chiefs concerned to understand these facts and realities to prevent unwanted incident.
