Health minister Dr Ranjan hails roles of nurse

Oath taking ceremony of the BSc Nursing first semester students of College of Nursing, Medical Directorate, was held along with the 11th foundation day of the college at its Lamphelpat conference hall, here, on Saturday.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, health minister Dr Sapam Ranjan hailed the roles of nurses in the healthcare and urged them to uphold the ethics of their profession while rendering their services.
People of the state have inborn talents suitable to nursing profession, which is why Manipuri nurses are popular in other states of the country, he said.
When patients are discharged from hospital, they may not know the name of the nurse who took care of them in the hospital but the love and care that the nurse provided during the treatment will remain in their hearts forever, pointed out the minister and added that this is also the most important and delightful experience in the life of a nurse.
The minister said that nurses are the soul of the healthcare sector.
Oath taking ceremony is a very meaningful ceremony in their lives and profession as they are taking an oath to serve the sick and hapless people with love and care while becoming a ray of hope that will put a smile on the patient's face.
Nurses often face situation where they feel angry and want to vent out their angst but they should learn to calm down in such situation and continue their duties while upholding ethics of their profession, he said.
While informing that state government is taking up initiatives to contain the situation of Dengue outbreak, which has crossed 350 cases, he suggested that nurses create awareness in their families, neighbours and their localities.
Dr Ranjan also assured of resolving issues being faced by the college.
Health services director Dr Kh Shasheekumar Mangang presided over the function while College of Nursing principal Dr N Surbala Devi, joint director (nursing) Lalbiekmol and Manipur Nursing Council registrar Th Nandarani attended as guests of honour.
College principal Dr N Surbala administered the oath to the nursing students on the occasion.
Later, the minister and his team inspected the work progress and preparedness of Churachandpur Medical College, which had started its academic session from this month.
The minister also inspected Ayush Hospital at Moulvaiphei, Churachandpur and advised the agency and contractor concerned for completion of the project at the earliest.
He was accompanied by NHM state mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam, AYUSH director Dr A Guneshwaor, and other senior officials of the department.
