Kakching, November 05 2022:
Several clubs and organisations of Pallel area have extended their support to the drive for removal of signboards with Tengnoupal and Chandel districts written on them in Kakching district.
Palley-based organisations including Youth Volunteers' Association (YVA), Youth Development Organisation (YDO) and Social Development Organisation (SDO) along with Pallel meira paibi convened a press conference in this regard at YVA on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, YVA president Romen Khuman pointed out numerous land disputes in different areas following the initiation of delimitation process of Autonomous District Council (ADC) .
It is unfortunate that several people coming from the hills bought land area in 52-Pallel and changed it to the name of their district of origin.
While there is no issue when someone buys land and changes their place of residency as several communities have been living harmoniously in Pallel area for a long time, the act of creating disputes by people who recently came to areas under Kakching district by changing the name of the district is uncalled for, he contended.
While urging to stop the arbitrary act of changing name of district, he also asserted that the drive launched by Kakching DC and SDO under the supervision of the chief minister to protect the boundary and land of Kakching district is legitimate.
Club and meira paibi groups of Pallel will extend unconditional support to such move and stand firmly with the DC and SDCX the YVA president declared and advised all concerned not to incite protest against the DC and SDO.
Romen Khuman also appealed to the government to do the needful according to the law of the land and opined that the public should commend the two officers for dispensing their charge diligently.
