Imphal, November 05 2022:
Students should work hard and try to live as humbly as possible instead of being arrogant, education minister Th Basantakumar has stated.
He was speaking as chief guest of the annual Fresher's Meet 2022-23 of Imphal College organised by Imphal College Students' Union at the college campus, here, on Saturday.
Basantakumar urged students not to be haughty and instead strive to be as humble as possible.
No one appreciates or respects an arrogant person.
Thus, students must work hard to become humble but responsible members of society.
Stating that aside from science subjects, philosophy and ethics should be considered as important subjects; the education minister remarked that the teacher shortage crisis is due to retirement of around 600-700 teachers over the decade.
Presently, only 10,000 teachers are being engaged instead of the required 17,000 teachers.
Nonetheless, the ongoing rationalisation process will help rectify some of the flaws in the education system, he said, while assuring of addressing the shortage of teachers at Imphal College.
The function was also attended by the College principal, teachers and students.
