Imphal, August 03 2015:
Condemning the harsh action taken up by security forces to disperse student agitators who tried to storm the Secretariat today against reopening schools when the mortal remains of Sapam Robinhood is yet to be cremated, JCILPS Student Wing has called a 48 hour general strike all across the State from August 4, 6 pm to August 6, 6 pm.
Speaking to media persons at MSF office this evening, convener of the Students Wing, Nandababu Oinamcha said that the general strike has been called against the alleged failure of State Government to implement ILP system in Manipur.
Brute force was used to disperse the girl protesters and such repressive measures must not be taken lightly.
He added that the authority concerned should take up actions against the police personnel and also take measures to prevent such actions in future.
In the midst of the ongoing demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit system in the State, the State Government has been trying to re-open educational institutions by posting security personnel.
Such activities must be stopped, he added.
Further he said that seven student protesters who were arrested by security persons must be released immediately without any conditions.
He also urged the people to support the ongoing ILP movement and give moral support to the 48 hour general strike.
