Ten-day climate course begins

A ten-day long short course on "Climate Change: Approaches and Strategies for Mitigation and Sustainable Agriculture" has kicked off on Monday at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre Lamphelpat Imphal.
K Kipgen, Director Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur attended the opening function as the chief guest, Dr S K Das, Principle Scientist, Fisheries Science, ICAR Barapani as the guest of honour and Dr N.Prakash, Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre as the president.
The course is being organized by Dr Lohit Kumar Baishya Senior Scientist Agronomy, Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Scientist Agricultural Economics and Dr M R.Sahoo Senior Scientist Horticulture of ICAR Manipur Centre with financial assistance and technical support from NICRA.
A total of 27 trainees from various institutions like CAU, KVKs, ATMA, SKN Agriculture University, Jobner (Rajasthan) are taking part in the course.
The programme is designed to train the agricultural professionals on various strategies for crop and livestock productions with special reference to location specific climate change scenario.
During programme a number of lectures, field visit and group discussion will be held with scientist, professors and resource persons from various organizations of the North East Region.
