There are around 250 Kuki villages between Chakpikarong and Myanmar border.
But these villages have been cut off from each other and other places of the State due to landslides at different places and the break down of Chakpikarong bridge.
In order to restore connectivity, around 500 volunteers have started constructing a road from Serou till Chakp-ikarong using four excavators and 30 Shaktiman trucks.
The road construction work is a joint effort of KSO, Kuki Chiefs Association, Kuki People Forum and Kana Area Anal Chiefs Association.
The volunteers were offered a meal with beef meet by social worker SS Olesh Lamkang.
After constructing the 15 Kms long road, sections of the Chakpikarong-Joupi road affected by landslides would be repaired after August 4 .
Incidentally work order for repairing the said road under PMGSY was issued one year back but no work has been initiated till date.
The inactive contractor should be identified and the same work order should be allotted to another contractor, Jamang Baite demanded.
Saying that Kana Area Chiefs Association has been assisting in cleansing flood affected Chakpikarong High-er Secondary School, CHC as well as private houses, Ja-mang Baite appealed to the Government to extend all possible assistance to the flood affected people.
