Imphal, August 03 2015:
Some school principals were asked by unidentified persons and the Director of Education (S) to shut down the higher secondary schools on Monday.
It may be recalled that these institutes were reopened only on Monday after a closure of 25 days following the gunning down of Sapam Robinhood on July 8 .
Th Suriya, convener of the Coordination Committee of Higher Secondary School Students' Union Manipur in a statement said that the spirit of the upbeat students was dampened soon after attending the school as it was learned that some unidentified persons had threatened the principal of TG Higher secondary school to shut down the school.
The school cannot be opened for holding regular classes, the principal was told.
The statement said that since it was a question relating to the career of the students the Union strongly condemns it.
All suggestions should be made to the students by personally coming to the schools and interacting with them.
It was further stated that the Director of Education (schools) had allegedly telephoned to the principals of some higher secondary schools instructing them to declare holiday without furnishing any reasons.
The Director himself is against the RTE Act and the Union shall not remain as a silent spectator, the statement said.
It concluded saying that government should end the ILP movement soon and the police personnel involved in the killing of Robinhood should be dismissed from service.
A conclusion cannot be brought about by side tracking the people's campaign.
It will amount to inviting more drastic campaign from the people.
