State duo selected for Tagore fellowship

Imphal, February 23 2023:
Choreographer Ranjit Adhikarimayum and film maker Bobby Wahengbam have been enlisted among those selected for the Tagore National Fellowship/Scholarship Cultural Research, 2019-20, which is given by the ministry of culture, to cultural scholars of the country.
Government Dance College former principal and choreographer Ranjit Adhikarimayum has been selected for the scholarship under the topic "Cultural Mapping of Vaishnavite Art Form of Manipur" and Bobby Wahengbam under the topic "Folk Tales to Cinema; Adaptation of Folktales of North Eastern India into Cinema".
Altogether nine scholars for Tagore fellowships and 23 for Tagore scholarships have been selected by the national selection committee out of a total 140 applicants.
A scholarship amount of Rs 50,000 will be provided to the selected candidates on a monthly basis for a year.
Both the fellows from the state are the first in their respective categories.
