Protest against shortage of ARV drugs suspended

Imphal, February 23 2023:
The protest staged by Imphal East Network of Positive People (IENP+) in association with various community organizations of the State against the shortage of Antiretroviral (ARV) drugs has been suspended.
IENP+ in a statement informed that the decision to suspend the agitation has been taken after agreeing on specific terms and as per the assurance given by the Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan during a meeting held at his residential chamber today in connection with the issue of shortage of ARV drugs.
During the meeting, it was agreed to provide ARV drugs to ART (antiretroviral therapy) centres across the State with immediate effect.
In this regard Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) should provide ARV drugs to the ART centre and should ensure that there will be no shortage of ARV drugs in the State by
March 2023 .
The meeting was attended by representatives of SASO, Kripa Society, CoNE, Care Foundation, USER Manipur among others.
IENP+ also expressed gratitude to all, especially CSOs who extended support to the struggle of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) .
Further it cautioned that the agitation will be resumed and intensified if the agreed terms are not implemented.
