Imphal, February 23 2023:
The Gold Star Club, Yumnam Khunou has demanded the authorities concerned to rename Ishika police outpost as Yumnam Khunou police outpost at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, Club president S Indrakumar informed that writing Ishika police outpost on the signboard will create conflict between neighbouring villages as the area which is under the jurisdiction of Imphal East district SP (site no.102 and patta number 515) is in Yumnam Khunou village.
Informing that the club has investigated the matter, he continued that Imphal East SP neglected the mat ter and the Manipur police headquarters as well as the home department have no knowledge about Ishika police outpost.
He urged against creating enmity between the two neighbouring villages which have been helping one another from time to time.
Indrakumar recalled that the police outpost was constructed by Khundrakpam MLA Th Lokeshwar and further appealed to the MLA to clarify the matter and rename the police outpost as Yumnam Khunou police outpost.
There are evidences and documents to prove that the site of the police outpost is in Yumnam Khunou.
The MIA should bear all the responsibilities for any untoward incidents if the name of the outpost is not changed within a short period of time, he cautioned.
