Imphal, March 03 2022:
Navodaya Vidyalaya Employees' Welfare Association has urged the state government to take up necessary initiatives for reopening of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the state.
In a release, NVEWA Shillong region president S Paul said that schools in Manipur were closed from April 20 last year due to Covid-19 pandemic, but was reopened since November because of improving situation.
However, 11 JNV residential schools in the state are yet to reopen, thus, depriving more than 7000 students from accessing proper education.
When the state government discussed about resuming physical classes from Class IX to University level, they left out JNV residential schools, Paul mentioned, while pointing out that JNVs in other parts of the country have started imparting education.
It would not be dangerous to reopen JNVs in the state with proper enforcement of SOP guidelines, he observed, while urging Disaster Management Committee to issue an order for reopening the schools in view of the approaching Class X and XII boaru examinations.
