Training on scientific pony rearing held

As part of the field-based activities, department of animal sciences, College of Agriculture, Imphal and Directorate of Research, Central Agricultural University jointly organised a one day off-campus training programme on 'Scientific Pony Rearing' at Moirang Polo Club, Chingei Lampak, in Bishnupur district on Wednesday.
Polo Club secretary Moi-rangthem Joy, HOD of animal sciences (CAU) Dr Th Ranadhir and former joint director of V&AH Department, Bishnupur Dr K Rashbihari attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Moirangthem Joy appreciated the effort of Central Agricultural University, Imphal for taking up such initiatives with the club for the first time.
He expressed the need of more such programmes, including health camp for ponies, in the future too and assured of all possible co-operation from their side.
In the technical session, Dr K Rashbihari spoke on 'Management of pony diseases' and Dr Th Ranadhir on 'Housing and feeding of pony in their natural habitat' and 'Breeding plan of pony through scientific breeding practices' as resource persons.
About 40 pony owners and players from Moirang and Kumbi areas participated in the training programme, which was organised under the NRGE sponsored project entitled 'Conservation of Manipuri Pony' .
