NGO celebrates Environment Day with children

The InSIDE-North East, a well-known non-profitable NGO from Saikul in Kangpokpi district, celebrated the World Environment Day 2022 with children of various communities with an aim to inculcate a sense of responsibility in saving the mother earth.
The NGO organised the event at nine locations under the theme "Save the Earth, Plant Trees".
The observance commenced with an awareness programme on air pollution, plastic pollution, global warming and the rise in sea level.
The children were educated about the importance of mother earth and tree plantation to save the earth.
InSIDE-North East director Hejang Misao said that the idea behind involving children in the tree plantation is to inculcate a sense of responsibility in saving the mother earth.
He continued that the children will water and protect them (plants) from animals or pests and by doing so they will feel a sense of achievement and delight when the plants grows into trees.
According to the director, a total of 180 children from four communities, Rongmei, Chiru, Thadou Kuki, and Kom took part in the tree plantation and around 250 saplings were planted in nine villages.
