Indigenous handloom store 'Lamnganbi Handloom' opened

Imphal, June 06 2022:
Nongthombam Hiyainu, wife of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, cut the ceremonial ribbon and inaugurated an indigenous handloom store, 'Lamnganbi Handloom', today at the premises of the store located in Singjamei Chingamathak.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nongthombam Hiyainu urged people to try out the various handloom products available at the store such as 'rani phi', 'phige' etc which are in high demand during wedding season.
Stating that Amazon India has signed an MoU with the Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd, she added that this will prove to be instrumental in marketing of handloom products.

Prabiya Salam, proprietor of Lamnganbi Handloom also addressed the gathering and narrated the story of how Lamnganbi Handloom store came about.
She added that one of her goals in setting up the store was to provide a source of income to poverty stricken women of the State through weaving handloom products.
Further, she said that she will continue to make attempts to improve the economic condition of underprivileged women and introduce new handloom products to people.
