Govt school topper eyes teaching job

Linthoingambi Thongram, who came in 4th position in the Higher Secondary Examination-2022 (Class XII Arts examination) conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (CoHSEM) and is the only position holder from among the government schools, confided that she aspires to become a professor and wants to groom students.
A student of TG Higher Secondary School, Linthoingambi Thongram said that she does not see any difference between private and government schools if one concentrates on studies.
Linthoingambi is the youngest of four children born to Th Gunindro and Pravashini of Tentha Khunou.
Her father is a science graduate teacher at Wangjing High School and mother retired as assistant teacher from Progressive English School, Lamding.
Speaking to this daily at her residence on Monday, Linthoingambi reiterated that there is no difference between private school and government school as learning lessons thoroughly and enquiring with teachers for any doubts are essential.
Students studying in government schools should never feel discouraged because of the place of learning, she maintained.
With reference to suspension of conventional teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic period, she said the teachers ensured that students remained focused and attended online classes conducted to overcome the difficult situation.
Linthoingambi also said she did not take any tuition as there is no need for it and gave credit for her success in the exam to teachers of the schools and her parents.
Linthoingambi revealed that she will pursue English honours at DU or NEHU to become a professor.
Chipping in, Gunindro said that he encourages his daughter to study in government school as there is no difference between private and government school.
His daughter came in the fourth position by the grace of god, he added.
