Imphal, June 06 2022:
Regarding the news report published by local dailies on June 5 about the arrest of one Soibam Ronaldo alias Abungo alias Thoiba by police with 95 number of fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) asserted that it is unrelated with fake currency.
Clarifying about the arrest of Ronaldo with fake currency notes, an RPF statement said that RO of outfit's finance department urged Mamta Electronic (Thangal bazar) proprietor Jai Singh Jain to help RPF's ongoing revolutionary movement in the form of cash on June 1, 2022.Accordingly, Jai Singh Jain offered to donate Rs 50,000 and Soibam Ronaldo, who has been helping the outfit, was asked to collect the donation amount.
However, almost all the Rs 500 currency notes given by Jai Singh Jain were found to be fake and hence the outfit is unrelated with the fake currency notes seized from Ronaldo, the RPF statement said.
RPF claimed that non-local businessman Jai Singh Jain conspired with some unscrupulous local people to play a fake drama to tarnish RPF's image.
The incident showcases fake currency racket of non-locals who are fooling local people, the RPF statement issued by its assistant publicity secretary Bankim said and appealed to people to be careful while doing business with non-locals.
