World Environment Day 2022 celebrations continue

As observed across the globe, World Environment Day was also celebrated in various parts of the state today under the theme, "Only One Earth (Living sustainably with nature)" .
THOUBAL
As part of the World Environment Day observance, All Thoubal District United Clubs Organisation (ATDUCO), district committee of AMUCO in collaboration with District Hospital Thoubal planted about 200 tree saplings at the hospital premises.
It was participated by ATDUCO advisors, Laishram Subash, Mutum Tombimacha and president Rajen Leishangthem; District Hospital Thoubal medical superintendent, Dr Ch Memcha Devi and staff of the hospital.

Moreover, Progressive English School, Lamding also celebrated World Environment Day by conducting an essay competition and planting tree saplings around the school and at Primary Health Centre Lamding.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, International Peace and Social Advancement ( IPSA) Thoubal Branch led by its president, AK Bishwajit also planted about 200 tree saplings at Keiranbi Ching and nearby areas.
As part of the mass tree plantation carried out by Village Community Progressive Committee (VCPC) Manipur, former MLA Of Lilong AC, Yumkhaibam Antas Khan distributed tree saplings at Lilong Mayai Leikai.
Manikanta Mutum, solo walker National Awardee and MK Bonny also took part in the programme.
VCPC Manipur also carried out similar drives at Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai, Kyamgei, Wangkhem, Keirang and Thoubal.
KANGPOKPI
InSIDE-North East, non-profitable NGO from Saikul in Kangpokpi district also observed World Environment Day with children from various communities with an aim to inculcate a sense of responsibility in saving Earth.
The event organised under the theme, "Save the Earth, plant trees" began with an awareness programme on various issues like air pollution, plastic pollution, global warming, rise in sea level.
Speaking on the occasion, Hejang Misao, Director InSIDE-North East stated that the initiative to involve children in tree plantation was taken to inculcate them with a sense of responsibility to save the planet.
"Our Environment Day observation does not end in planting.
Children are formed in pairs to take care of the plant and ensure the plants grow and become big", he added.
Altogether 180 children from Rongmei, Chiru, Thadou Kuki and Kom communities took part in the tree plantation drive and planted about 250 saplings in 9 villages.
Meanwhile, the Subsidiary Training Centre, BSF Churachandpur under the aegis of BWWA also observed World Environment Day by planting over 250 tree saplings of different varieties within its campus.
Chitra Nayal, president BWWA STC BSF along with families of all ranks of the border sentinel participated in the plantation drive.
On the occasion, the BWWA president encouraged the families and children to adopt the trees they planted even as she laid emphasis that these trees are investments for the future generation.
